A fetish priest based in Duayaw-Nkwanta in the Tano North Municipality of the Brong Ahafo region has offered to be an ambassador for HIV/AIDS.
Nana Sakumba popularly known as Gyataba claims his deities have directed him to embark on an HIV/AIDS campaign since a majority of the youth especially in the area have been infected.
He stated that his deity gave him the go-ahead after it asked him to distribute condoms to residents in the area.
To enable him to go nationwide with his campaign, Nana Sakumba wishes to partner the Ghana AIDS Commission and be an ambassador in the Tano North and South Municipality.
The AIDS Commission has a tradition of enlisting the volunteer services and support of prominent individuals, usually from the world of art, academia, literature, sports and entertainment to raise awareness of the deadly disease.
Given his stature in society, Gyataba said he is more than capable of creating awareness on HIV and AIDS in his area.
