General Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has fired a salvo at the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) for tagging the Akufo-Addo government as corrupt.

John Boadu said a party which paid lip service to the fight against corruption cannot accuse the NPP of doing anything.

This was in response to the NDC’s claim that corruption under President Nana Akufo-Addo is unprecedented. NDC General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia said the President has lowered the bar in the fight against corruption.

But, Mr Boadu, while addressing a press conference in Accra Wednesday, said the NDC’s assertion is laughable.

He noted that their fight against corruption is unrivalled of any leadership in Ghana since independence.

The NPP General Secretary cited how President Akufo-Addo acts swiftly when mere corruption allegations are levelled against his appointees to buttress his point.

Also, he stated that the establishment of the Office of the Special Prosecutor, passage of the Right to Information Bill among others are enough attestations that the NPP is committed to making corruption unattractive in government.

When it comes to the NDC, Mr Boadu said their best attempt to fighting corruption is culprits being sent to the presidency to continue milking the State.

He challenged the NDC to make public details of an investigation into the infamous Ford gift saga if they are indeed committed to the corruption fight.
