President Akufo-Addo says the Special Prosecutor, Mr Martin Amidu, will diligently start prosecuting public officers in both past and present administrations believed to be corrupt when he (Martin Amidu) is ready.
According to the President, his administration has provided the necessary funding support necessary for the various anti-graft agencies to enable them to function effectively.
After almost one-and-a-half years since Mr Martin Amidu was sworn into office, he is yet to haul any alleged corrupt official to court for prosecution.
Some section of Ghanaians are not happy with the Special Prosecutor as he’s not being able to prosecute anyone since he was sworn to office with some asking what is holding him up from prosecuting corrupt officials.
Popular amongst them are former President Jerry John Rawlings and Kwame A Plus who for sometime now time has called on the Special Prosecutor to start acting.
But President Akufo-Addo told Parliament on Thursday that: “We all await the Special Prosecutor to start his work.
It is in everybody’s interest that the allegation of corruption in public office will be vigorously investigated and prosecuted if the prima facie evidence is there.
