Nigerian songstress and mother, Tiwa Savage has emerged as the Best African Act at the MTV European Music Awards held in Bilbao, Spain on Sunday.
The ever-active musician beat the likes of David Adeleke, known as Davido and other popular African acts to clinch the title.

Tiwa, by this achievement, becomes the first-ever female artiste from Africa to win this award. This also happens to be Tiwa’s first ever nomination for this award.
A few days ago, Tiwa Savage went viral on social media when she featured as a video vixen for the music video, ‘Fever’ by Nigerian singer Wizkid.

The MTV EMA is an event which seeks to honour pop artists. The Best African Act Award of MTV EMA has been in existence since 2005.
All previous editions were won by male acts with the first ever carried by 2 Face, now 2Baba. The most recent edition was won by Davido who stood a chance of winning back to back this year.
